How a Board Member’s Gift Raised Almost $25,000 in a Matter of Weeks

Strategy: Gift of Life Howie’s House strategically sent out dedicated emails to their donor base, posted on social media, and used Facebook’s “boost posts” feature to spread the word about the Taylor Swift tickets they received. They successfully raised $24,800 in a very short time frame with this strategy.

Story: Gift of Life Howie’s House is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit dedicated to smoothing the difficult and often unpredictable journeys of organ transplant families by providing them with affordable lodging, meals, transportation, supportive services, and a place of comfort and stability. When one of their board members donated a pair of tickets to Taylor Swift’s May 12th performance in Philadelphia, they were thrilled — but they knew they had to act fast!

With just weeks to go before the event, Gift of Life Howie’s House quickly and easily built their TapKat sweepstakes site. (TapKat’s software is drag-and-drop, copy-and-paste, and most people can set up a brand new sweepstakes site in about 30 minutes.)

They knew they had a short window to spread the word about their sweepstakes, and they were hoping to raise at least $7,000 with the coveted tickets. So, the staff planned for three dedicated emails to go out to their base, and quickly put together social media posts that they planned to boost on Facebook.

And… it worked! With a super desirable prize like these tickets, and a nonprofit team that jumps right into promotional actions, it’s no surprise that Gift of Life Howie’s House far exceeded their goal. In the end, they raised $24,800 and are excited about their next TapKat sweepstakes.

Congratulations, Gift of Life Howie’s House!
