TapKat is for nonprofits only – can any nonprofit use TapKat for fundraising?

TapKat serves U.S. based nonprofit organizations. Here are the basic requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. nonprofit organization with a valid EIN, in good standing with the IRS
  • Your nonprofit tax exempt status must have been granted for at least 1 year (Ruling Year)

Is a TapKat sweepstakes fundraiser a raffle?

TapKat drawing campaigns are sweepstakes. There’s a big difference between sweepstakes and raffles. Raffles are considered gaming and as such, are subject to state regulations and sometimes licensing. Raffles are illegal in several U.S. states. All that makes it tricky to run a raffle online. Sweepstakes are not considered gaming and that means you can run them online where anyone from any state or country can make a donation to participate. TapKat Sweepstakes Rules have been structured and vetted for U.S.nonprofits to be able to run, promote and take donations online. I don’t have a prize – how can I get a really great prize?

Your choice of a prize is a key component for your sweepstakes fundraiser and we’re here to help. Do we need to purchase the prize upfront?

No, TapKat has structured our sweepstakes fundraisers to keep upfront costs to a minimum. You can set a minimum number of dollars that must be raised before you award that prize. The minimum ensures you can both pay for your prize and still raise a good sum of money for your nonprofit. If you've met or exceeded the minimum when the sweepstakes closes, the prize is purchased using the funds you’ve raised, and you award the prize to your winner.

Do I need a web developer?

No – we build and host your TapKat sweepstakes fundraiser for you on the TapKat platform. All you need to do is promote it with links and graphics on your website, social media posts and email campaigns.

What happens once my TapKat sweepstakes fundraiser is online?
